Ctrl + S : Tell us about yourself!

Chenxi : My name is Chenxi, I was born in Nanjing, China, and moved to Miami, FL during elementary school. My art practice consists of experimenting with mediums, contemplating my life choices, going crazy on picking the color, and finally producing the artwork that I will end up hating.

Ctrl + S : What are some of the motivations for your piece?

C :  My motivation to draw is to create something fun and narrative driven. Every work is different, but the importance of each work is to express and convey a story and emotion to the viewer.

Ctrl + S :  What is your process like?

 C : I like to work with music or video playing in the background to ensure a good mood since my work quality heavily relies on it. Most of the time, I find inspiration on pinterest, but if I’m having a hard time figuring out what to draw for an assignment that doesn’t interest me, I’ll draw cats. You can never go wrong with cats.

Ctrl + S : Any general goals for yourself and/or your art?

C : My goal is to regain my passion for art, to help cats dominate the world with my cat drawings, and not burn myself out again with my ever growing ambition. In the future, I just want a stable job and to be happy and passionate about the work I am creating.
